October 2010

Gwyneth Herbert (Lovely London Town) and Conor Mitchell (What Kind Of A Life is This Masha) were the winners of the Stiles and Drewe Best New Song Award 2010. Alex Young was named Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer Of The Year. The competition took place on 6th June at the Queens Theatre in London's West End. Julia McKenzie presented her with a cup and £1,000 cash prize.

We believe it is really important to give recognition to those in the industry who have done well. For up and coming actors and writers it is encouraging to know their work is not going un-missed. Hopefully it will also get others involved with MMD, it is a chance for anyone who has a passion for musical theatre to pursue it, it doesn't matter if they have little experience, or have done a course via elearners. All that is needed is the desire to be a part of it.

When someone has created there own piece of musical theatre it is always highly impressive. Every year plenty of talented people walk through our doors. A number of them will go on to create wonderful pieces of music for a musical. It is therefore hard to pick a winner in this category, however you do know that whoever wins is the cream of the crop.
