London Shakespeare Workout is sponsoring the third Tim Williams Award Presentation (a celebration of the art of song in memory of LSW’s late Musical Director) on 20 June 2010 at the Cochrane Theatre. This programme is to be entitled OUT OF THE PIANO. Highlights from the second programme, READINESS IS ALL, can be heard here.

As part of the preparation for OUT OF THE PIANO, a FREE interactive workshop for any interested MMD members (composers and lyricists) is offered by the inspirational Bruce Wall of London Shakespeare Workout. The aim will be to create new material towards the public concert at the Cochrane Theatre (which will also be recorded for the MusicalTalk podcast).

In this workshop, dramatic materials not originally intended to be set to song will be used as lift off points towards the creation of potential new material for OUT OF THE PIANO where cash prizes will be awarded in Tim Williams’ memory. Any MMD composers are lyricists (or any combination therein and other interested parties) are invited to attend. A piano will be available. The workshop, loosely titled ‘An Opportunity to Play’, will primarily aim to offer interactive opportunities to enhance/share skills; proffer an opportunity towards the introduction of fresh partnerships within a practical frame work; to HAVE FUN and, as per the dictates of LSW’s stated purpose: ‘to promote confidence through the will to dream for all’.
