We're very proud of our development programmes. Writing and composing musical theatre are crafts, and like all crafts, they need a development process in order to literally reach the final stage.
Development takes many forms in musical theatre...
- a critique session with fellow writers, to get some initial feedback
- a few hours with drama students to explore one song, or one scene
- a one-day reading of a first draft
- a two-week workshop with professional actors
- a ten-day writing residency to have the peace and quiet in which to focus on the work
- an industry reading, to present the finished show to theatre professionals
If you're a theatre professional of any kind who is involved in musical theatre, why not become an MMD Creative Partner?
