The Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer Scheme

There will be five placements for composers or composer/lyricists starting in February 2012 with The Royal & Derngate Theatres.

Every six months thereafter, there will be a placement at another participating venue.

The placements last for six months and the writers will receive £10,000 over this period.

The residencies are for writers who have already had some work professionally produced.

If you wish to apply please write a summary of your career and experience to date, why the residencies appeal and please select four songs that you feel reflect the diversity of your work by 1st November.

Submissions should be sent to me at martin@mercurymusicals.com

Candidates will be short-listed by a panel of Industry specialists and those selected will be required to write a couple of songs for a particular show. The final decision will be made by the participating venue in discussion with the panel.

If selected, you will be required to underscore work, write songs for specific productions and devise an original piece for presentation.

Continual residency in Northampton is not required, but regular attendance at meetings and rehearsals will be expected, including full production weeks.

If you are a composer and have a preferred lyricist please detail who that is, if not the panel and venue will be happy to make suggestions, if selected.

The Resident Composer Scheme is supported by the Mackintosh Foundation
