MMD, in partnership with Stranmillis University College of Queen's University Belfast, runs this multi-stage writing programme to initiate and facilitate the creation of new musical theatre.
Writing teams spend up to two weeks on a retreat/writing period at Stranmillis, a residential college situated in 18 hectares of wooded parkland in Belfast. All residential and travel expenses are met by MMD/Queen's, so there's nothing to worry about but writing.
Although this residency is primarily a writing retreat, drama students can be available to writers for workshopping purposes, and several members of the drama, music and art faculties are on-hand to offer guidance if required. Facilities include use of the music department's studios, free internet access, printing and photocopying on campus, and a great pub nearby.
