Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Submissions Open

April 29th, 2021

Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize 2021 submissions are now open.

The Best New Song is awarded on an annual basis recognising an outstanding song from a new musical written by a member of MMD. Since 2008, this has been done in conjunction with the Stephen Sondheim Society’s Student Performer of the Year – however, as of 2020, we now run this as a stand-alone celebration of new writing. 12 finalistshave their songs showcased by West End performers.

Due to COVID-19, the exact format of the 2021 concert is TBC – we had great success with an online live streamed concert in July 2020 but it is possible that we may be able to do a live in-theatre event this year. A decision will be made in due course, but either way we will be able to celebrate the work of MMD members!

A panel of judges, including Stiles and Drewe, award the Best New Song and the winner receives a prize of £1,000 to put towards developing their work. All finalists have access to a Feedback Lab, hosted by Stiles and Drewe at a later date.
