Generously supported by Musical Theatre International (Europe), the Mentorship Award provides bespoke mentorship support and showcasing opportunities to one writer or writing team over a 12 month period. The 2025-26 Mentorship Award is expected to run from August 2025 to July 2026. The Mentorship Award takes place biennially and focuses on the development of one show by an MMD member.
This includes:
- A one-week development retreat for the writer(s) to work on their musical, with guidance from George and Anthony. This has previously happened at Anthony Drewe’s house in France. Location in 2025 TBC.
- x2 one-day Progress Labs, giving the writer(s) an opportunity to test some material with actors and an optional industry panel/audience.
- Access to shadowing opportunities – either on a Stiles + Drewe show or with alternative industry contacts (subject to availability and production schedules).
- Regular meetings with George and Anthony over the year to receive support and mentoring.
- At the end of the 12 months, a full-length sharing/reading for an invited industry audience, with professional cast, director and MD.
