We are delighted to be able to offer a very exciting opportunity to three MMD members – the chance to take part in a songwriters’ showcase of new musical theatre in Tokyo, Japan, in December 2026.
For the third year running, we are working with TOHO, a large Japanese production company (creators of the stage productions of Spirited Away and Your Lie in April), to find three UK MT writers to participate. Fifteen writers will participate in the showcase in total – three each from the UK, Japan, and the USA, and three writing pairs from South Korea. One song from each writer will be presented at the showcase (performers provided). The showcase will take place in Theatre Creation, a 600 seat venue.
You can read about the experience of our 2025’s MMD writers in Rachel Bellman’s blog post here.
Applications close for MMD members on Sunday 27th September at midnight. For more information and to apply, please log in to the Musicals Resource Hub.
