A series of lyric-writing seminars arranged by Mercury Musical Developments and Book Music & Lyrics
We all realise that lyric writing is incredibly complex, detailed and sometimes even difficult work. For inspiration, we turn to the greats, but modern lyric writers may not take the opportunity to explore in detail what goes into the work of the greats and pinpoint how these masters achieve their seemingly effortless magic.
Mercury Musical Developments and BOOK Music & Lyrics will be presenting a series of four sessions in Spring 2020 where British lyricists really dig into the masters’ writing techniques, their specific word choices, the pictures they make, the images they create, the emotional development in each lyric, and the varieties of vocabulary and styles they employ from character to character and show to show; citing examples from the work of these esteemed lyricists, to illustrate how every word and thought counts.
The sessions will take place once a month over the course of January 2020 to April 2020 running from 7pm until 9pm. The cost of the four sessions will be £10 per session for BML and MMD members, or £35 if all four sessions are booked.
