New musical theatre after lockdown: making space in producing theatres for new musicals – presented by MMD and MTN
Amidst much uncertainty for producing theatre venues, we wanted to address the question of how they will still be spaces for new musical theatre when they reopen.
We’ve invited a panel of artistic directors to chat about the logistics of making it possible to stage a new musical in their producing theatres in the past, and how we all might encourage further productions of new musical theatre in the future.
James Dacre of Royal & Derngate will talk about their recent involvement in staging and developing several new musicals, then chair a wider discussion with a panel including Daniel Evans of Chichester Festival Theatre, Tamara Harvey of Theatr Clwyd, Andrew Panton of Dundee Rep, and Roy Alexander Weise and Bryony Shanahan of the Royal Exchange Theatre (speakers subject to change).
Register here for this event – the event is free for MMD and MTN members, and we ask that non members consider making a ‘pay what you can donation’ to support our ongoing new musical theatre initiatives.
