MMD are pleased to announce that applications are now open for all three of our current Writers Labs – and for our brand-new early-career Writers Lab, which is beginning in late August!
MMD’s Writers Labs provide a supportive environment for musical theatre writers to share their work and receive artistic and professional support from a welcoming group of their peers. They are designed to be a place where writers will be challenged and encouraged to become better at their craft, and to create a sense of community in what can otherwise be a rather lonely process.
Members of each Lab will make a one-year commitment to being part of the group. Members of Labs 1 and 2 agree to attend a minimum of 7 monthly sessions over 10 months. Members of Labs 3 and 4 agree to attend all 10 monthly sessions over 10 months. We will be looking for writers who will make a positive contribution to the Labs and benefit most from joining. The Labs are open to writers of all backgrounds.
There is one application form, on which you can indicate which lab (or labs) you are interested in joining. The deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday 19th July. New Lab members will be invited to start in September. The exception to this is Lab IV, which will commence with an in-person introductory session on Friday 28th August. Please read the date schedule for Labs 2, 3 & 4 before applying.
Applications can be made via the Musicals Resource Hub.
