Eligibility Criteria
- New British musical with a completed draft or final script, that can be condensed to a meaningful sharing of no more than 45 minutes.
- At least half the writing team of the musical must be resident in the UK.
- The musical can have been commissioned or workshopped already, but it can’t have received a professional production.
- The piece must be able to be performed by max 4 actors, including musical director/pianist, due to space restrictions.
Logistics
- The Other Palace can provide space the morning of the performance date, so everyone can read the piece together in person prior to the rehearsed reading. We do not expect the show to be extensively rehearsed but performers should feel confident to read in front of a paid audience, with script in hand. We expect the 30-45 minute reading to be a mixture of song and script.
- A keyboard can be provided upon request, but no other technical support. If additional rehearsal time is required, The Other Palace will do its best to provide rehearsal space, subject to availability.
- There is no fee for this rehearsed reading. The writer/lead contact will be compensated with the event ticket income, with the expectation that they will share fairly amongst all participating.
