David Shopland and Callum Hughes met whilst studying American Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College in 2008, and have been collaborating professionally for over a decade. They have seen 8 plays and 6 musicals professionally produced on three continents; including musicals commissioned by the National Theatre of China (Lessons Learned 2017), Riverside Studios (The Little Mermaid 2013) and Leicester Square Theatre (Cinderella: The Anti Panto 2012). Their musical Living Out Loud at the Fujian Grand Theatre in China was live-streamed to an audience of over 250,000 people in March 2018. Shopland and Hughes have also written 4 songs for Only Men Aloud star Ross Leadbetter’s forthcoming EP and were commissioned to write the anthem for the 2017 international BRICS conference.
