Caroline Slocock

I’m a London-based writer and lyricist.  My background is in television, fashion and interior design, but my passion has always been storytelling.

I’ve spent the last seven years consumed by the story of Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in Britain (in 1955).  Ruth’s compelling tale of love, death and obsession inspired me to write a British noir musical entitled RUTH.  It’s a timely tale with themes that still resonate today – domestic abuse, class divide, the sex industry, and a woman’s struggle for survival in a patriarchal society.

I’ve written RUTH as both a stage musical and a musical feature film.  The screenplay has reached the semi-finals of two screenwriting competitions, and last year we held a reading of the book at The Other Palace.

A music video I made to promote the project was screened last year at the New Filmmakers New York Film Festival.

In my spare time I write short stories.  I’ve had two published, in the horror anthology Twisted50 and the sci fi anthology Singularity50.
