Biography | Born 1950 Elgin Morayshire Scotland Kenny stared playing in cover bands in mid 1960’s while still at school.By 1970’s he had formed a group called “Windy Miller” and through the Albert Bonici Agency supported many of the big name acts that were touring the area, including: Cream,Slade, Marmalade,Sweet etc.They also launched there own album called “On the Rise”. This gave Kenny the opportunity to start writing all the tracks on the album. 2006 Eden Court Theatre Inverness launched the Quest. A competition to find a new musical for the opening of the new One Touch Theatre. With fellow band member Fred Mcdonald, Kenny entered Lady Lane. A musical that they had created based on a book by Jessie Kesson called A White Bird Passes. This reached the quarter finals which gave them the opportunity to meet George Stiles and Anthony Drewe at a workshop weekend in Ullapool. This was a total eyeopener for Kenny and gave him the encouragement to continue with creating musical theatre works. 2007 and Lady Lane became one of the main events for the Highland Year of Culture,and after 3 night sell outs at a local venue it continued in 2008 at Aberdeen Arts Centre then on to Eden Court Inverness’. For the past 8 years after been given the writes, Kenny has been working off and on ,on ” Beau peep of the Foreign Legion” musical based on the cartoon strip created by Roger Kettle and Andrew Christine,and in June 2018 finally produced and staged the musical with the help of Co script writer Jimmy Cameron. There again three sell out nights and standing ovations. The hope now is to take this show to the next level,which may include Edinburgh Festival. “There has been a lot of faith and encouragement placed on our shoulders by the cartoon creators I would hate to let them down” Quote Kenny. |
