Biography

Lucy’s writing has won the Kevin Elyot Award and Ronald Duncan Award. Two of her play scripts have been selected plays in Bristol Old Vic’s Open Session. She’s a resident artist at Exeter Phoenix, associate artist at Exeter Northcott Theatre and participated in the Soho Theatre Writers Lab. Stage plays include SCORE, a jukebox musical, PULLING OUT and LAMINATED, plus commissions by Theatre West (ARE YOU THERE?), Villages in Action (UNEARTH) & Theatre Royal Plymouth (SNIP). Lucy’s radio dramas PULLING OUT and MERMAN were broadcast on National Prison Radio. Lucy works on verbatim-inspired theatre and has taught this approach at Arts University Bournemouth, The Egg Theatre and Exeter Northcott Theatre. She has worked as a teacher in secondary schools and a prison and volunteered as a governor at SEND settings. Lucy’s interest in firsthand accounts and lived experience began when she worked in documentary television as part of the BBC’s New Directors Scheme. She is currently developing a new musical with Naomi Turner (producer), Ben Glass (composer) and Sarah Meadows (director).
