Reece Shearsmith is an English actor and writer. He’s most famous for his work as part of The League of Gentlemen along with fellow performers Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and co-writer Jeremy Dyson. Shearsmith was born in Kingston-upon-Hull and educated at Bretton Hall College (now part of the University of Leeds). He co-wrote all three series of The League of Gentlemen, as well as the two live shows – The League of Gentlemen Live at Drury Lane and The League of Gentlemen Are Behind You. He also co-wrote their feature film The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse. In 2009 he co-wrote and starred in Psychoville, along with fellow Gent Steve Pemberton. The show won Best New British Comedy at the 2009 British Comedy Awards. He has played a variety of roles, but his strengths seem to lie in playing dark, menacing and angry characters or the sweet, amiable man on the street, His ability to turn into anyone is a joy to observe and he is undoubtedly one of the finest young actors in the UK today.
