Am I eligible for BEAM?
We will be looking for a wide range of work to be included in the showcase – from the traditional book musical through to work that is advancing the form and experimenting with the idea of what musical theatre can be. You don’t have to have written a musical before and you don’t have to be pitching us anything that is finished; we are interested in completed musicals, scratch presentations of early ideas and everything in between.
However, we do have a number of criteria you will need to meet:
- Work can only be submitted by professional artists or companies and those demonstrating a commitment to working within musical theatre;
- Work can have been commissioned but not already professionally produced/licensed as a musical (by professionally produced we do not mean work produced by a drama college or school);
- Music and song must be an integral part of the story-telling, and/or integral to your thinking about the piece you are developing (if at an early stage);
- You must be a UK resident, though you do not have to be a UK National to apply.
