Open Mic Nights

Want to try out some new material in front of a fun and friendly audience? Want to check out the UK’s hottest writing talent?

Come along to Mercury Musical Development‘s quarterly writers’ Open Mic Nights! If you’re a member of MMD you can perform a song from a show you are working on for free. The Open Mic Nights allow you test out new material in front of a friendly and supportive audience. Alternatively, you’re welcome to just listen, enjoy the new work presented and socialise with fellow writers.

How does it work?
Arrive at the venue from 6.30pm – One of the MMD team will have a clip board and sign up sheet. Just come say hi and put your name down for a slot. It’s that simple! Your slot will be for one song only unless there is time for two.

What we offer:
A stage / keyboard / microphone / love and support.

What we need you to bring:
Yourselves / a pianist (if not you) / a singer (if not you).

Why Open Mic?
Many of our writers have requested an open night to test out new material.

Who can come?
Anyone who supports new writing! You have to be a member of MMD to perform or have a song performed. Our aim is to create a safe, fun and engaging environment for our members to flourish, take risks and try out new material. This is also a quarterly social for the musical theatre community.

What do I need to do now?
Nothing at all – just put the next date in your diary. Get there a little earlier to put your name down if you wish to try something out – and if you want to be in the audience just turn up any time after 7pm.
